Dogwood dance

I was struck by shadows coming from higher above that moved and contrasted with the branch forms that seemed to dance across this simple scene.

Joy

The simplicity of a beautiful snow covered tree led me to see all the shades of blue that could be there.  The canvas surface allowed the watercolors to flow and mingle in unexpected ways. Introducing white gauche in areas created snowy layers that couldn’t have happened that way on paper. I felt like I was creating the pure “joy” of winter!  24" x 36" watercolor on canvas, SOLD.

Winter Jewerly

I look for color surprises in the winter landscape. A friends’ photo of crab apples after a snowfall inspired me to discover and photograph them near my house as well! I love how the ice and snow give the clusters of apples an almost ethereal quality- like winter showing off its’ precious jewels.
