I give you my heart

“Create in me a clean heart O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10

This watercolor painting began during worship to the song “You Won’t Relent”. God has spoken to me many times “in hearts” since my husband’s unexpected death over 7 years ago. The first time came as I removed the dead bouquet from the gravesite and found a perfect silk leaf on the ground underneath the bouquet, in the shape of a heart that seemed to be waiting for me as encouragement from God that He was with me at this difficult time. The idea of totally giving my heart back to Him-all of me-nothing held back- was the vision and reason for this painting. I used my hand and that first leaf heart as the model and it represents my total surrender to my King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Truly the lover of my soul-Jesus Christ!

My Soul Thirsts For You

O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water. (Psalm 63:1)

This is perhaps my favorite psalm. I saw the image of the hands with water running down from them probably a year or more before completing this piece. I had begun to paint it but the idea was never complete. On this day I knew it was time to paint the idea again. I never imagined the people that were to be below or the dove that appeared at the top until after the hands were complete. The yellow that is flowing down I felt the Lord tell me is His “grace”.

RabBONI

He has no form or comeliness; and when we see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him. He is despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
(Isaiah 53:2-3)

HE WAS IN THE WORLD, AND THE WORLD WAS MADE THROUGH HIM, AND THE WORLD DID NOT KNOW HIM. (JOHN 1:10)

I saw the vision for this painting the day before I painted it. I sensed God giving me the color palette and where an image was to go on the paper. The next morning, I asked Him “horizontal or vertical?” and I sensed- horizontal. I said, “But it won’t be balanced if the composition is horizontal”- but I began painting and felt Him guide my hand and literally paint the whole painting. The word, “Rabboni”, came up in my spirit and I thought it was just to be the name of the painting but felt instructed to put it on the painting and felt guided to where it should be to balance the composition. At one point I sensed Him say “it is finished”- and I knew I was to stop. It is a painting so unlike any I have ever painted before; I knew it was not I who had painted it. I was just obedient to give Him my hand. I have discovered that He has even signed it!  (Look for the name JESUS to the right of his head)

I had never been drawn to do a painting of a religious and beautiful Jesus. Since scripture says He was nothing to look at-nothing that would have drawn us to Him-I had always longed to paint Him but didn’t know how. In this painting, He gave me the understanding that “we” are His palette-that’s why the colors He wanted used are the different skin tones of all the people in the world. In this painting, I see refelected every man, woman, and child. I see the story of Christ’s life and death and resurrection.I see compassion and love and the beauty of His Spirit, a man of sorrows, yet a man who did what His Father asked Him to do-with love-for every one of us. The drips remind us that He was spat upon. When He calls our name, as He did with Mary, we see who He is and choose to respond or not. It is our choice. He will not force anyone. Jesus has redeemed and restored to right relationship with God all those who know Him and believe in His name. Oh the Glory of His name…Jesus. To Him be the Glory!

Restoration to the Garden

In my quiet time with the Lord very early one morning, when I had my eyes closed I saw the image of Jesus with His arms stretched back from the cross and behind Him was the entire world. All of a sudden all of this vegetation started to grow up between Him and the world. When I gasped and said “what is that?”, I felt Him tell me that when He died on the Cross He restored man to the Garden. We can now walk intimately with Him, with our Father, with the Holy Spirit, just as Adam did before the fall. What a beautiful relationship is once again ours if we realize it. This visual painting reminds us of this fact. (Prints are available)
